Hi, I just started acclimating my new betta who I just from my lfs and I noticed that he's bloated (luckily not dropsy and I've got epsom salts just in case), but its the lump on his right (I think) side that I'm more worried about, and he must be a young betta as my lfs is not allowed to sell old bettas.

Is there I could do anything about the lump?
Should I do an epsom salts bath for him if the lump is caused by fluids?
@Colin_T please help.....

Could you post a pic? Is the lump under the scales?

It is under the scales and is placed near his tail, where his tail begins..
He seems to be lethargic for now.. but I'm still acclimating him and temperature might be low. What can I do?
I'm not sure. If you could get a picture that would be good. My betta had a growth on his head

Did he recover?

Or maybe I'm wrong about the lump?

Sorry if not very visible..:

Could it be a muscle bulge? Mine had it near its tail and sometimes it was more visible than other times
Really? So nothing to worry about? Maybe I should try an epsom salts bath then just in case? What's a muscle bulge?

It still could be something, I'm not sure

A muscle bulge is just where his muscles kinda stick out on some bettas its more noticeable. It should be on both sides tho

maybe he works out more on one side :)
sorry couldn't resist.

need a picture from the side. put him in his tank, give him 24 hours to settle down then take some pictures.

don't add anything yet.

A lot of male Bettas have a weird muscle bulge just before the tail. it seems to be a newish thing because none of mine ever had it.

Lol

I'm still acclimating him (so slow..) and when I'm done acclimating him I'll see if I can do some pictures of the lump from the side.
So you don't think its anything serious?

We need to see a clear picture. Of him, in the tank. He should be done acclimating by now.

Ok, sounds good. As of right now, it’s nothing to worry about. But we will see tomorrow.
