Betta Veggies?

Could it be, that my Betta ate the snails lettuce?

I have one Gold-Snail in my Bettas Tank right now, since I don't have a plant in there right now somebody here suggested to drop in some cleaned iceberg lettuce or some cucumber for my snail! So, I dropped in some Iceberg-Lettuce and when I walked passed the Tank 10 minutes later, there where litterally chunks bitten out of it! I'm sure it wasn't the snail since she dissolves her stuff! Can the lettuce harm my Betta- he seems to like it better than his Betta-Food!

It's very possible
All my bettas (as most do) love peas.
I personally haven't tried any other veggies, but I've heard they go nuts for most veggies.
Our local PetSmart always has cucumbers and other veggies in their regular tanks so I"m sure that a betta eating lettuce wouldn't be out of the question.

What a good boy! Eating his greens without having to be told to!

You need to repost if you find out that your Betta did eat it...I have actually been wondering if Bettas would eat Romain. Was it Romanin lettuce? Ugh, I'll just try it.

Forget the bettas I just wish my Cockatiel would eat greens.

Wow, then I'll certainly try again with the veggies. As long as it doesn't hurt them I'm glad o be able to offer more then just those boring food-perls!

Betta-Momma, the pea- do you drop a whole one in there? Can the Betta nibble on that or do you have to cut it? Or do you just use the inside of the pea?

Make sure you rinse your veggies off in dechlorinated water before you drop them in!

And for the peas - buy a bag of frozen ones - they'll last you a while.
I just usually put a few of them in a bowl with some water, then microwave them for about a minute, then let them cool.
Then I squish them and that takes the shell off in one swoop - then sort of mash up the inside of the pea and drop it into the tank in small hunks. They love it!

BM - I never thought about rinsing the peas off in declorinated water before I fed them to my guys.

I thought the water would be ok if you boiled it... I guess I'm going to have to start doing that now.
