Hey all!

I have a betta fish in a bowl (I knowww he shouldn't be in there...stupid LFS) and I haven't had an opportunity to buy a tank for him. But the bowl is ariated, 2 gallons, and I make sure I change it once a week...like full water changes and wash out the gravel and everything. I have a ten gallon tank with sand, wood, and live plants. I have a lot of balloon molly and guppy fry in there right now that I am moving out soon. When I get them out of there is there any way I could put my betta in the tank? In that tank I have 2 female balloon mollies, 1 female guppy, 4 large ghost shrimp, and 3 cherry shrimp..

Thanks in advance,
megan :)

There may or may not be an issue with the betta and the guppy, maybe not since it's a female and the betta may harass the cherry shrimp. Again he "may" but it's not set in stone as each betta has it's own personality.

Here are a few pics of my tank and my female guppy...the cherry shrimp are always hiding in the plants and I can never even see them...lol...so the pic is just to show you how planted it is and ask if it makes it better because the shrimp can hide?

Thank you for your fast reply! :D
Megan

Yes, planted is always better for shrimp, especially when you have other fish in the tank. It gives them a safe haven and places to breed and give birth to their shrimplets.

Looking at my guppy do you think he would go after her? She isn't very colorful or big...

i have kept a female guppy with 3 of my males, a yellow guppy.

If you betta is blue he may see it as a threat, my partners orange betta goes for anything red or orange but ignores any other colour

my betta is navy blue/black. But this picture of the guppy really makes her color look more vibrant than it actually is...she has a very pale blue tail, like I said, my betta is very dark with hints of red. Do you think I should just try it out and see what happens? Also, should I get all the fry out of there first?

i think it should be fine as long as there arent any bright colors or long flowing fin but it really depends on the personality of your betta but it seams like you dont have to worry about the molly and the guppy

and i dont know about the fry but i am sure someone else could help you with that :good:

The fry I am keeping (I'm getting rid of the rest today) are maybe 3/4 of an inch long and getting fat so they're pretty big :)
