is it me? but when i see pics of betta tanks on here some dont seem to have any heaters or filters, surely they need some filter and some kind of heater?

with a tank with no filter you do water changes every 2-3 days and bettas dont like any kind of current in their home.

I have a heater and an airstone.

It really depends on climate. I live in So. Cali and never turn on the house heating or airconditioning. The temp. in my Betta tank fluctuates so I have a heater for them.

If you have a central heating/cooling system in your home, you don't really need a heater for a small tank.

i dont use heaters when it is warm. (i live in alabama)
when it gets coler, i just heat the room they are in to about 85 or use a space heater.
i think i might actually be a betta myself. i have to put on heavy clothing when it gets below 80... :p

Personally i think that bettas like all fish, should be kept in heated and filtered tanks. Most filters have the option to slow down the current. I do not see why people put bettas in 'containers', if you can't have a tank with filters and heaters ect. for the fish, why buy one in the first place?

Sorry, but filters and heaters don't make a tank something that I want to stare at and adore for hours.
