I have put 5 Harlequins in with the Betta but was wondering what bottom feeders I could put in with them?? I want to keep it biotope specific on the fish front so any Asian suggestions would be great.

Sorry to Hijack, but I'm in almost an identicle situation. I'd like to do similar but also add something else with a little but colour.

Any ideas?

Sorry to jumo in again, just didn't want to start a similat topic at the same time.

It does depend on the size, but I also want to say this.
Each betta has its own personality. Some can handle other fish, others attack everything that enters the tank.

My tank is only 18x10x10 so shan't be chocking it full of anything bigger than an inch or so.

I was thinking some form of small loach, which ones would suit the typical fighter environment?

Mine is a similar size tank, 24"*12*12

Also the Betta I have, red female I think, seems ok. Not botered in the slightest by the harlies.

I think as llamalord said it does depend on the individual betta.
I had one in my community tank, and he got on grand wit everyone there for months. He died unfortunatly, I believe after i used melafix in the tank. Ayway i got another, and this new one is intolerate of anythin in his tank.
He is in a 35 litre, and attacked a cory and shrimp that were with him. Ive moved the cory, but the shrimp are still there. They just need to hide in the plants a bit more.
I also used the tank to house a peacock eel for a few days, and he attacked that too.
Ive snails in with him now, and they are the only thing he hasn't attaked so far

Mine seems fairly tolerant of the Harlequins so hoping that I can get away with some bottom feeders, what I want to know is which fish are biotope specific for the fighter???

what size is the tank - if its small you dont want to over stock it

I am pretty experienced and just need to know which smaller fish (2" or less) would be found on the bottom of the water in a Betta's natural environment?? I was thinking Kuhli loach but not sure??

Also, I have seen a lot of Indian Almond leaves on eBay but was wondering if anybody had bought and and could give me a link of a trusted source, thanks in advance.

the best for that size would be 6-8 khuli's and some shrimp - as long as its well planted - need some bogwood or cave for khulis top hide under

or you could add 6 pymgy corys -- pygmaeus , habrosus or hastatus
