betta suicide

Well I'd been eyeballing a creme betta for a few weeks and the other day she was still at Walmart so I got her. Then the next morning my husband comes in to tell me "We've had a suicide" The poor girl jumped out of a hole that was smaller than an inch square! I fear she did it right after I went to bed because she was dry when hubby found her. I was so attached to her since I'd been watching her for so long. I really like my females better than my males. They have so much more personality. Walmart is s'posed to get a fresh shipment in on Friday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a crowntail slipps in or a really pretty teal girl.

Awwww gosh, I'm so sorry. I believe I had a "suicide" too once, little girl also. Never did find her, I imagine the cat or dog had a little tuna for lunch. Bettas certainly do have a knack for surprising us, whether for the better or worse! Unfortunately she thought she'd try her acrobatic skills to surprise you... hmph. Best of luck finding a new gal to replace her, I bet you do. Who knows, there could be some amazing surprise on it's way to be your new fishie.

The way my betta jumps out of the water to nip at food I'm holding above him makes me extreeemely weary about possible routes of escape. Sorry she got away, they are such clever fish, so clever it gets them into trouble sometimes. Good luck on the search.

My favorite female attempted suicide about 2 years ago...I had a feeling to go check the fish bowls and to my dismay her bowl was EMPTY! I freaked out,started searching like mad and she was behind the stereo against the wall covered in dust so bad I could barely tell she was a fish!

I put her back in her bowl and it took her nearly 2 days to get over the shock of that. I still have her,she's a big fat sassy little blue beauty. She's gettin' old,tho.
