My Betta, about a week ago, had a lump forming about a 1/4 inch behind his gill. A few days later it "popped". At first I put him in a vase (he normally lives in community tank), and treated with BettaFix. The wound slowly started to heal. He has been back in my community tank in a plastic breeding trap / wounded fish container for a few days. He does not eat anything, I have been trying to feed him flake food and freeze dried red grubs and peas. Sometimes he will not move for hours at a time.
(Also, he did not eat while in vase either).
Please give me your suggestions.

My tank:
5 gallon; slightly overstocked,
change water 25% per week, or 10% twice a week
treat water with AquaSafe before adding it to aquarium; salt added

if he wont eat its posible that the wound hurts when he opens his mouth i cant think of what you could do apart from put him in with that blue stuff cm mensioned some kind of anti fungle stuff and perhaps some fry allmost liquid food and most important i htink it would be best if you kept him seperate from the other fish untill this all blows over one way or another.

He will sometimes goto the top grap air, and blow a bubble. He is moving a little more today, swimming a bit, but not eating.

sounds like he is trying to make a bubble nest for some reason are there any females in the tank next to him? it worries me if they dont eat if you have tried making the flakes into a sort of dust in ure hand then sprinkling it on the water sometimes they at least accidentaly eat. if none of that works try switching food as a temporary fix blood worm often go down well im really sorry but i cant think of any other ways to fix ure fish i just hope that someone else will come up with something the boil interests me as it might help with the cure if we knew what the disease was was the boil pink or white or some other colour?

are you in a area where you can catch him some fruit flies bettas love them I havent seen one yet that will turn one down I buy banas just so I can have some of them around just for my betta. With this new betta that is sick I havent had time to catch mine any but I will today.

The wound looked whitish blue (my betta is blue). I will try to feed him again, but I hate to think what might happen to him if he doesn't eat...'
Sorry, can't catch fruit flies... i live in canada.

Fish doc thanks to big fish for that link i belive it has a list of diseases that you can have a look at to see if yours is on thier have a look at white spot tho i think it might be one of the others.

He ate a few flakes and a couple freeze dried red grubs. Hope hes getting better.

excelent but the cause still bothers me if it is one of the diseases on the site i gave you it will need to be treated against.

OK, i will look on that site. Honestly though, I thought it was a tumor that popped, because of the lump. Quite wierd though.

im not much of an expert on disease but it just reminded me of a parasite somehow i dont wat to alarm you but i think its allways a good idea to make shure you know what happened just incase it can help you avoid more strife. best of luck and i hope your beta gets better :)
