I have just purchased a beautiful betta fish. I have approx a 1 gallon bowl. Is there a way to heat the fish bowl? Perhaps a light? At the aquarium that purchased the fish they say room temp is fine but all that I am reading seems to say the fish needs to be kept a bit warmer than that. I am new to owning a betta fish and would like to provide a good home for him. Thanks

You would be best asking a mod to move this to the betta section for you, you will get more replies.

For a one gallon bowl all you need is a UV desk lamp. They're cheap, hot and warm the water fast. Most bettas don't need heat though if they're kept in a warm room.

Depends where you live, in the Uk the temperature in small bowls and tanks drops quite dramatically at night and you probably should put a small heater in such as the Hydor Mini Heater on this link.

These heaters are very small and have no thermostat so stay on all the time. I have something similar (neWattino heater) but a bit bigger in a 3.5 gallon tank and I put it on at night when I turn the light off now the nights are getting colder. I turn it off in the morning when the light goes on.
