Ok for a 12 gallon ... can i have a betta...a snail or two ( dunt worri i no about them breeding) and maybe 3-5 cory cats for bottom movement... does that sonund good? i just want a simple tank seing as for the nextt few months i wont put as much care as i did before..but ill still care for it u no whut i mean?> lol

Actually, that sounds perfect for a betta. What kind of filtration are you looking at, though? It needs to be somewhat low on turbulence for the betta's sake.

Sounds good. Just watch for the betta getting aggressive with the snails. They find the 'danglies' (feelers, etc.) just irrestible. I have snails in with my bettas, but I had to remove one of them from one of my bettas, he was just downright mean and wouldn't give the snail a moment's peace.

O ok good well i have an old aquaclear filter but i think its the course to the white fungi moss groweing on my plant gravel and the filter itself as we speak so i provided the link below to a GOOD filter that keeps the water clean is it too rough? or i can get a tetra whisper only if that ones to rough...

As long as the filter is adjustable, I wouldn't worry about it too much. That could be a whole lot of filter for a 12-gallon, though. I'd personally go with something smaller. As for the white stuff. I'd try and gravel vac it out... if that doesn't work, just go get some new gravel.

I have that filter on my 29 gallon, and even in that size tank it creates a lot of turbulence. Way, way too powerful for a betta in a 12 gallon. I'd go with something much smaller. I recommend Whisper brand filters for bettas, since they tend to be very gentle.

My Whisper filter is quite powerful for some reason (it's a 5-15 gal filter on a 10-gal tank). But, my betta seems to like it. He spent an hour today riding the current up and down. I think it depends on the fish. You could try it with what you have, and see how he likes it first before you spend money on another one. Just my $0.02.
