My last betta died a few weeks ago and I said I wouldn't buy another, today I went back on that and came home with a beautiful turquiose one. When my last one died, someone suggested my tank may have been to big for it,I thought it would be better in my 4 foot one.

Do they prefer small tanks? if so, this new betta can go in my smallest tank.

they may not prefer small tanks but i believe the best tank for a betta is in the 1g to 5g range

there was a topic not to long ago... maybe not even a month about keeping them in smaller tanks versus larger and i think it was bkk that was the one that had the end all scientific information as usual

I've heard from hardcore betta people that they don't believe in keeping bettas in large tanks because it exhausts them and tends to shorten their life span.

It makes sense to me. :p

I don't agree with that theory about larger tanks, but it's just my opinion. If the water is kept clean, and the betta can find the food you put in, I feel it will be just fine.
