i know that two male bettas cannot live together, but can two female bettas? i was thinking of getting a couple for my community tank. any thoughts?

well, what size tank is it and what else od you have in there? it's recommended to keep a min of 3 or 4 females together to spread out aggression. With two, the bigger/meaner one will simply harass the other one until she dies. if you have a few it'll spread out the aggression :)

well, to be honest, its for my future community 10-gallon tank. in addition to female bettas i wanted some platies, ADFS, and shrimp. but nothing for sure yet.

well after you cycle the tank i'm sure you can put at least 3 or 4 females in there. The shrimp might turn to dinner but its' worth a try, ADFs should be alright, i dont 'know about platties though. I keep 6 feamle betats in a 25g with 3 guppies and 3 cory cats and they're okay.

i woudl be on the lookout though because some feamles can be just as aggressive as males. Also, the tank would have to be heavily planted in order to avoid open areas where they can fight

but trust me, they are so full of personality and cute that all the work will be worth it

I would (after cycle of course) put 3 to 4 females and a few cories and forget the Platies. I like platies and all , but Bettas have more personality and platies are... well platies. :D
