Melody and Harry (two out of my for bettas) are currently stuck in smaller bowls. The bowls are quarters of a gallon. I know, small. But when I got them, I had nothing else. I'm trying to save up money to buy them both new tansk but it's sort of difficult.

So, my question is, for a temporary tank (and it will give them more room!) is it okay that I move them into Beanie Baby cases? You know, those bigger ones? It's quite large, but I still don't think it's large enough. But it'll be temporary. It'll give them more room too. Is this okay? I mean, I'll wash out the xases of course. Hm, here's an approximate size of what they are: http://www.beaniebestbuy.com/grax/bsld.jpg but they are slightly wider and slightly taller. Would this be alright, or would it cause too much stress? I need to know.

You can get really inexpensive 3 gallon bowls at just about any store, maybe even at a dollar store. Get a couple of cheap big vases for now. I'm not sure about the plastic cases. You have no idea what those cases might have been treated with or even what they're made of. Plus, they might not be strong enough to hold water. I wouldn't risk it.

Okay, thanks.

The next time I go out shopping I'lll take a look.

At my dollar store you can get big 40 gallon tubs and use them as fish tanks:) lol Betta Heaven

One could always go in a community freshwater tank if you have one...as long as the fish in there are compatible.

Why did you go ahead and get two new bettas when you didnt have proper tanks for them??

You think you would have learned after what happened the last time...

Listen, I did not post this to get lectured on the right tanks again. Okay?
The reason I bought these fish is because I wanted more Bettas, but I didn't have enough money to buy two new tanks.
(But, thanks to you guys, I've realised that I might be able to head over to the dollar store to get bigger tanks for inexpensive prices!)
I thought that I'd just keep them in the two temporary bowls until I could get bigger ones. Thats what I did last time, and everything turned out fine.'
So there.

I wasn't lecturing you. I was pointing out the obvious

So there? Wow, that shows your age :)

BettaGirl, you have to understand that your first concern should always be for the health and well-being of your fish. Always. It's really hard sometimes because you want this fish and that fish and oh, wouldn't that fish look beautiful in my community tank. But then you find out that it's not compatible with something you may already have.... or you just don't have what you need to provide for the fish properly. And then, you just have to back off and wait until you have all your t's crossed and your i's dotted and then, and only then, do you get the fish you want. That goes for all of us.

I'm not sure what you experienced before, but I know that SoCalMom's heart is very much in the right place. We should be learning from our previous experiences. Sometimes it's a tough lesson. And personally? I'd rather have someone remind me that I'm about to head down a path I've already been down, especially if the first time didn't bode well.

Awe, thanks. Actually, I think I act maturer then most 11yr olds. Of course, I may be snappy at times but I'm going through emotional breakdowns right now. And so what if I said 'So There'.....? x.x

I know I may not be as smart or experienced or mature as you guys because I'm fairly young and still learning, but I try. I apoligize SoCalMom if I read your post wrong. To me, it sounded like the start of a lecture that would obviously lead to flaming....proabably by me of course. :p

I understand now Lynda B, but sometimes I just so excited that I get something before I even have things ready for it. Such as fish. But I mean, we all make mistakes, don't we? Especially kids. Besides, as long as the fish are happy and healthy, thats all I really care about. Harry and Melody would probably be happier in larger tanks, but in reality can you really TELL if they are happy? I'm with them twenty four seven so I know when they are happy or upset or scared. And so I should. You guys? You don't know my fish and if they are thriving or not. I will get them bigger tanks, but until then they shall be fine.
