When I looked into my 20 gal tank last night my betta, Jericho was draped over the top of my plec, Fergie. As I watched, Jericho slowly swam back and forth over the top of Fergie, draping his fins over Fergie as he went by and bending his body sort of around Fergie. He did this for several minutes. Fergie didn't move so I guess Jericho got discouraged and swam off, but I swear it looked like some sort of mating ritual. Those of you who breed, is Jericho in love?

Actually I don't think that's what is going on... I think it's just curiosity. My betta used to drape and physically lay on top of my cories. Just for fun... They're just little fish with big personalities ;) :flex:

Whew!!! I don't know if the plec is male or female, but the thoughts of what the offspring would look like were a little scary.

That does sound a little like Betta love....

Did he approach from the front and try to fold the Plec into his body?

He was on top of it when I first saw him with his fins brushing across the plec's back. Then he turned and acted like he was trying to wrap himself around the plec, but he couldn't get underneath it, so he kind of curled around it. He made several passes very close to the plec, his fins actually were draping over the plec's back. After 4 or 5 passes with no response from the plec, he gave up. :-( :look:
