One of my 10 gallon swordtail fry tanks has been sitting unoccupied for a couple of weeks so I decided to move one of my male bettas from a 2 gallon tank in to it. Cleaned it up and changed the water, moved the castle and plant from the 2 gallon to it so Deuce would feel more comfortable in his new surroundings. I moved Deuce to it a little while ago and he's been happily exploring his new digs, I decided it looked to empty so I grabbed a bigger plant from the 55 gallon tank and another decoration to spruce it up. Well, when I grabbed the plant a couple of snails hitched a ride...

After a few minutes, Deuce discovered the first snail on the back wall of his tank and flared at it for a minute or so and then knocked it off the wall with his snout. He followed it all the way to the gravel and watched it for several minutes before swimming off to check out his new plant. There he found another snail sitting on a leaf and he went through the whole routine again. So far I've watched him knock 4 snails to the bottom of the tank, it's so funny to see! As soon as he gets them all cleaned off his plant they start climbing back up the walls of the tank trying to get back on the plant and he has to start over again. I can see this is going to provide him with hours of entertainment!

I have one guy, Batista, that drove me nuts trying to keep him entertained. He ate his ghost shrimp and attacked the ADF's I put in there. I bought a HUGE apple snail, the biggest one I could find to give him a "fighting" chance with my brute, and Batista loves him. Snail will rest on the side of the tank, and Batista rests on Snail. He will lay right across his shell. When Snail decides to drop down to the bottom of the tank, Batista gives him the "why'd you do that?" look.

Be careful if you've got an evil betta with snails!! My favourite (but now sadly deceased :-( ) betta Arnie had some snails as tankmates as that was all i could think to put with him! He'd killed everything i'd tried, including cories!!!

Anyway, he did what yours was doing to the snails for a few days - Just knocking them off the glass and tank ornaments, then one day he decided to remove those little eye stalk things  It was disgusting and the snails didn't survive very long suprisingly enough!! He was much happier on his own :)

Here's an old pic of him just before he gave one of the snails a big kiss! :*

 that's funny.

Awww, he found some playmates. I used to catch one of my (now deceased) bettas snuglling with my cory. When I would get up in the morning and flick on the kitchen light I would catch the two lying together at the bottom of the tank. As soon as the light would come on though my betta would shoot away from the cory like he wsa embarrased to be found that way. :)
