My betta has been battling recurring fin rot since I bought him, particularly since he bit his fins if he wasn't fed every morning. I lacked the right knowledge to bring him up properly when I first got him, and he lived in a one-gallon bowl for about six months, with infrequent and 100% water changes. I moved him into a heated, filtered five-gallon tank when I discovered how he should be living, and he seemed to be doing better but still biting his fins when he wasn't fed at the right time. He has recently lost his entire appetite and stays in the same several spots at the top/bottom of the tank all day. He hardly moves or breathes. I would really like to be able to help him out in any way I can, since I have grown attached to him over the past year and a half I've had him. I know that it is possible that it is just his time to go, given their life expectancies and all of what he has gone through in life, but I felt obligated to try and save him. The only other things I've noticed are that he somehow scraped a section of scales off of his left side, and it looks like a bubble of skin has developed over it. I tried giving him Maracyn-Two, because I originally thought the scale loss was some sort of fungal infection, and his fins looked terrible, and that was cleared out of the water today after I saw fin improvement and realized what the scale loss was. He has regained some color, but is still doing the exact same things as he was when he grew pale. He has always has these strange silvery-shiny spots on his face, if that has any significance. For all I know, it could be a life-long illness. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions or needs more information, please let me know ASAP! thanks. Also, I cannot get a picture of him, as he stays hidden and I don't have a good camera.
