Can I safely add a betta med with the active ingredient of 0.2% Melaleuca (a variety of tea tree) to a 5 gallon tank with a new female betta and 2 ADF? The dosage would be 2.5 teaspoons (12.5 ml). She doesn't appear to be sick, I just want to add it as a preventative messure as she came from a chain pet store.

Please advise if this med is safe for ADF.

Thanks

It would be better to quarantine the new fish for several weeks and if it does not have any problems, then you can acclimate it and add it to your other tank. I know BettaFix and most other meds talk about using them in a preventive measure but I don't think it's a good idea to treat fish that aren't sick as it could lead to resistant strains of pathogens.
