Before when i had bettas deliverd to my house in the mail (i know it sounds wierd) they came in blue water.. i think it helps with stress or something?? maybe they only just got them shiped in, but i dont know
When I buy fish they throw a small tablet in the water with them that turns the water blue..I think it is called a oxygen tablet or something to that affect..
It's either bettamax or methylene blue (bettamax's main ingredient) They do this to prevent disease outbreaks while they're on the shelf and in transport.
They are shipped in that blue water. Could just be a case of lazy employees who don't want to bother changing the water when they switch the bettas from their little bags to their little cups.
My walmart has them in blue water that is so dark that alot of times you can't even tell what color the betta is. I bought one almost a year ago who I thought was black and blue...when I got him home and put him in his new tank, I found out he was redish purple with bluish silver.
I always thought it was ick prevention. I have some ick prevevention medicine at home that turned the water blue. It's a little tablet that u put in the water and it dissolves, making the water blue.
