could i have a betta in a small tank, just the tank with a heater (i live in the uk)

What size heater would i need? would the betta just be ok with daily water changes?

Safely putting a heater in a tank that is small would be in a 2 gallon tank at least. I have a small heater in a 2.5 gallon tank. You could use a 25 watt heater on it with adjustable temperature or a heater specifically for 2-5 gallons. I'm not sure what they sell over there though.
The betta would be fine with at least 1 water change a week...2-3 would be better in my opinion.

i was thinking of getting a 5 gal. which is what i have my fry in atm, here is a pic of it -

they sell smaller tanks, i had an idea to get a wider one that wasnt as deep and seperate it off for a couple of bettas :D

i might take the live plants out and put some silk ones in, is this a good idea or will he not be bothered by the type of plants in there?

I was thinking of getting a little cave or somthing for him to swim around in as well

The silk ones would be just fine.

And he'd LOVE a cave. Just make sure all holes are big enough for him to slide EASILY through, or small enough that he can't get himself in them at all. Bettas sometimes get stuck, and, since they're air-breathers, they drown when they get stuck. But they do love caves.
