Noticed small white salt like things on Winston, a small Plakat I purchased last Saturday. I actually reduced the number of rocks in his thank becuase he got ccaught in one. Now I realize he was probably scratching himself on the rock. I was studid ot to relaize it earlier. Began medication.

:-(

I clean all my materials after use. Will boiling water be enough to sanitize them? Should I immerse them (net, rocks, gravel, gravel vac) in water with acquirium salt?

I have a spare net and gravel vac which I bought for emergencies so that is what I wll use for the other fish if need.

Oh no.

Turn temp up, add salt, and add white spot med, boiling water and salt should be enough to sterilise the equipment, as for the gravel the med should take care of that in the tank.

Thanks Wilder.

When you have four betta's finding out one is sick creates a sense of panick.

Update:

I think I am winning the battle against Ich. I know it is no biggie to most of you. It does leave me with a certain sense of pride. Am a newbie so you will have to forigve me.

Into betta's for a bit over a month and have been able to fight off fin rot and Ich... :D

Kind of worried though the ICH might have been my fault in the first place. When I got him last weeked I bought Winston from a Petshop 2 hours from home and I had to make a stop in between for a bit over an hour (brought him with me on my stop).

It seems like most bettas from the lps end up with something within a couple weeks. It was probably developing the ich when you purchased it. I feel the Quickcure is the best med for ich. It will cure it in 2-3 days. Keeping some aquarium salt in the water all the time will prevent things like ich and velvet most of the time.

I have changed my water conditioning regimine to add salt, although right now I am adding very little so and will gradually increase it over the next few weeks.
