First place at State 4-H horse show!! WHOOEE!!
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to ask a question about my betta, (I didn't think it was so urgent that I had to post it in Fish Emergencies) he has whitish, cloudy eyes. His attitude is really great, not lethargic, (anything but! :flex: ) but I just can't figuire this out. He's in a 5 gallon eclipse bowfront, live plant tank. There are also 2 ADF's, 1 arched cory, and 2 guppies in with him. I'm feeding him (and the others) Wardley Tropical flakes, TetraMin tropical granules and a shrimp pellet for the bottom feeders. Here are the stats~

pH~ 6.2
Amm~ 0
Nitrite~ 0
Tempature~ 84

Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? :dunno:

Thanks so much,
Robin

For now, I would simply do water changes every day or every other day. That should clear things up within a week or so. If not, you may want to try Melafix or some other meds. I would recommend not adding meds until you've tried doing daily water changes, though. :)

your in luck, 1 of the bettas me and my close friend are dealing with has popeye/cloudy eye, heres what you do (worked for us)

1) do a full out 100% water change, make sure to dechlorinate the water
2) go out and grab a med called "Tetracycline Tablets"
3) if you can find an alternate home for the betta so he's on his own, actually this will be a must the tablets make the water very messy
4) follow the dosage on the back of the box, if you put your betta in a 1 gallon tank dont worry about getting the exact dosage because those tablets are impossible to cut without them crumbling so just cut them in half
5) you should see improvements in 2-3 days ... we did, oh yeah NO water changes during the treatment period, im pretty sure it says on the box to leave it a day or 2 after it looks cleared up just to be safe :)

thats the guide we followed and its worked out well just prepare for extremely messy tank and yellow water when using the tetracycline tablets hence why i said its best to find him his own home for the treatment :)

hope it goes well for you :)

i dont know about "no water changes."
when you change the water, just add the same odse of medicine.
