yesterday one of my girls died. no signs of anything on her, so thought maybe she was just old...............today, another girl dead (my favourite).........just taken two more out of the tank looking very lethargic.......have tested water, all params ok, all at 0 except nitrate which is about 0.6...........have turned my tank blue with medications but the rest of the girls are looking lethargic as well..............what is strange is that my ottos and corys are swimming around like there is nothing wrong..........is there something that only attacks bettas...........i really think i am going to lose them all.............please someone help. i'm feeling really upset at the moment, this is my first loss...................

sorry for double post, but no one is around to answer me in 'emergencies'

Aw, I am so sorry! I have no idea what could cause this! Rest In Peace girlies.

so sorry for your losses!!!

what are you using for meds? other than lethargy, do the girls show any signs? clamped fins, color changes, fungus or other growths, swollen belly? anything out of the ordinary? it won't do you any good to treat with the wrong meds!

Bettas are air breathers, Corys and Ottos are not; in fact, they stay mostly to the bottom. My theory is that there is something in your air or on the surface of the water killing them. Has anything been sprayed in the room recently? Lysol, insecticide, perfumes, deoderant spray, carpet cleaner, etc? Is anyone painting nearby? Do you have Glade Plug-Ins in the house? I would not medicate a compromised fish with no noteable medical symptoms, as this can kill them just as easily as whatever is wrong with them. Search your house for possible sources of air-born dangers, and if you need to, get the survivors in new water and keep it somewhere away from everything and covered until you can sort this out. Very sorry about your losses, and hope you get to the bottom of this!

the girls look normal, then they suddenly go lethargic, stop swimming and get pale..........then they die :(

will ask my other half if he has sprayed anything in there, however, don't keep things like air freshener in the house for that very reason.............but it does sound a reasonable reason, why the corys and otos are ok.....this is so awful...........................oh my god, have just thought............he sprayed the dogs last week (outside), but i expect the patio doors would have been open........

So sorry to hear you're losing your girls :byebye:

I hope you can save some of them and get to the bottom of what is causing it
