They are about 8 weeks old. Some are much bigger than the others. It's not clear which are male and which are female.

I can tell the sex of adult betta's but I'm not so sure with these babies.

Alot of them have the white dot underneath which would make me think they are female.

What else is there to look at?

All of there fins are the same shape and size.

Any ideas?

it mite still be a little hard to tell 100% i wait untill the male get longer fins, some males will also have the white dot under there ventrals.

Males tend to be the dominant one in the tank and you can often see them flaring at there siblings and they may chase others away if you have one take him out and jar him he will then come on much faster in growth and development its a keen eye that see these things its important to get them out as soon as possible so any other male will then also start to show them selves.......... :p -_-

edit any pics............ :kewlpics:

thanks for the pointers. Glad to hear some of the males also have the white dot as they all appear to have them!

Will seperate some of the more developed ones and see how we get on.

I am now feeding them all different foods like blood worms and tubifex (spelling!) and they go mental for it!

As for pictures i'm trying very hard to take some but the camera I have is a real pain. I'll try again tonight and see how I go.

Whats the tail type? Obviously if they're, say, plakat, its going to be harder to tell them apart. As Bettaman said, remove any that flare a lot, but you might find you can only really tell when you can spot the oviposters.

Hey Gilly, my fry have just started swimming around today. How long before they will take food, and what shall I feed them? :D

Hey Nuttygal,
My spawn are just over 3 weeks old, and I am feeding them microworms. When the fry first hatch, the feed off of their egg sacs. If they are free swimming now, feeding them microworms is a good way to go. Congrats on your spawn!
