Betta fish ID

Hi guys, so I got a new Betta today and was wandering if anyone could tell what type he is? I was also curious about the colouration on his head as it seems to be kind of pale in comparison to the rest of his body, is this normal? I also wanted opinions on whether his eyes looked overly bulging or not?

Hello! Pretty fish! You put him in the right sub, he is a betta splendens
The coloring might be normal since these fish can have a lot of different coloring, but do a water change and wait a few weeks to see if he settles in and colors up.
I am not a master with bettas…. I think a lot of people here have bettas tho.

I'm going to say a halfmoon. I am more of a plakat/wild type fan, so I cannot swear to it. Either way, he is gorgeous!

i saw a wild pair for 129 at my lfs
some wilds are even 150 or so
they are so cute but dont fiit my tank

I've had several plakat varieties. My most expensive came from one of those chain stores we all love to hate and he was only $25. My other two were around $10-12. True wild types on the other hand I have never seen in person and are more than I'd be willing to spend. But I can dream.

i really want to breed wild bettas
seems more manageable then some crazy splendens
