My betta lives in a 3 gallon tank, how many watts should I get and what temperature should I keep the tank? ty!

A 50W heater I would recommend. Needs to be kept at around 80 farneheit. 25/26 centrigrade.
Welcome to the forum by the way!

Ok, thanks so much! One more thing, I don't want to start another thread so I was wondering if I also need a filter to circulate the heat. I already have 1, but even when it's on the lowest setting, poor Edward can barely swim against the current.

I'd ditch you filter for a small air driven sponge type and regulate it via a gang valve to just a trickle.
As xxxSarahXX already said Welcome!

I'm guessing Peachy lives in the UK!!! Big difference! it gets cold here!!
As for the filter... I use a small world filter (you can also get ones made for goldfish bowls) and they are also very good.
