I am treating one of my bettas for Ich. I was using QuICK Cure for a couple of days and the Ich subsided. However, I noticed holes in his fins going all the way around, about 1/16th of an inch from the fin tips. They look like preforations to ripping something in a specific pattern. I see no fungus or remaining Ich spots. His quarantine tank is bare.

Anyone know the cause of this or what it is?

Dunno, but one of my bettas has 1 tiny hole started right in the middle of his tail fin. No idea how it got there. Maybe it is the same thing? Also, does fin rot or any other disease start like this? I don't want his pretty crowntail to rot off. I think he maybe just tore it from thrashing around at his neighbor betta, though.

Itty that happened to one of my bettas when it started to get fin rot,I treated it and it stopped but it got tiny holes like that in it's tail. They eventually disappeared, just keep an eye on them and make sure they don't start to get bigger or change. I don't know why it happens. As long as it's healthy and healing it should start to heal.

Well, my betta with the 1 tiny hole in the center of his tail.. He flared up at his neighbor, and his tail split in half. :/ Now he looks like a wonky double tail or something. Poor guy. Don't think that will ever heal..

:fish: surprisingly enough it will heal as long as the fish is healthy, I am not certain if you can use melafix on bettas but if you can then this should help him heal quicker :D

You can use melafix on them.. I didn't know they could repair that though, I figured the edges would just kind of heal and it would be shaped like that forever. I'll definitely treat him. He's already got a bit of salt to help prevent irritation/infection. Thanks for the info!
