I have one male betta in a filtered and heated five gallon tank. I really want another betta and went out a bought a 1 gallon tank last weekend only to come home to find I need it for fry. Would it be wise to put a solid dividor in the 5 gallon? I'm pretty sure I want a male betta but I'm not sure.

Also, do I have room in my 12 gallon for a female? Just asking.
Thanks,

I wouldnt add a male. He may nip at the guppys fins. But since you want a female you could try. As long as you have a backup tank to put her in if anything gets bad! HTH :)

BTW I don't think it would be a bad idea to put a divider in the 5 gallon but i'm not really sure. Someone else will come and give a good opinion on this.
