Last night my betta died. I am trying to figure out why...i kept him in a bowl in my room (about 3 gallon). The thing i think played a big factor in his death was the temperature. I am from toronto, and 2 nights ago it was very cold, and my room temp went down to mid 60s. could this be why he died? He all of a sudden stopped eating and got very lathargic. His colour seemed paler and he wasn't swimming as much. i have a pretty powerful lamp that i tried to use to warm his bowl...but maybe that wasn't enough? Is there a heater i could buy that could heat that bowl and not over heat? i can't seem to find one with a low enough voltage. I want to get another betta but i don't want him to die too! help me please!

thanks

If it was 60 degrees then his bowl was probably in the 50's  I don't know if they make heaters for bowls, but they make them for small tanks (2-5 gallons)

:)

I agree with Sorrell, temp. drop would most definetly cause a betta to pale and become larthargic. I have a 25 watt heater in my 2.5 gal. tank and it keeps the water at a nice 79 degrees.

Sorry about your fishy :rip:

I doubt it was 3 gallons considering it was a bown :/ Measure the water out with a milk jug and see b/c waste could have been a factor

Yup, cd has a great idea. One of the cool things about the reptile pads is that if you get a largish one you can have 2 or 3 2-3g bowls on it. Also, petsmart will match petsmart.coms prices in store. Just print out the online page from petsmart and take it in!

I'm sorry for your loss.
