Betta Constipation? Age?

So, I just got a new betta and a guppy from my friend, setting up a tank for them, and I saw that they both were a bit chubby. I am extremely new to fish keeping, so I was wondering if they are constipated? And what their ages are, if you can guess.

The betta could be female and carrying eggs.
The male guppy doesn't look fat.

If fish are fed a varied diet they don't get constipated.

No idea about their ages. If fish aren't fed well when young they can grow really slowly and take a year or more to get to that size. However, if they are given ideal conditions they can be mature in 3 months.

When my friend got the betta from Petco, they said that it was a male. But I can't really tell, either.

I think I just found an egg spot on the betta. Do the females also build bubble nests? There are a lot around the rim.
