Ok I just got these two bettas. As you can see he has a bubble nest how do you know when to release the female into his side of the tank? She is always going towards him she stares at him while he is making the bubble nest. I have an empty 50 gallon that I can use for the fry. Do I heav to use a filter? on the fry tank.

you posted the pictures today.... and you say you just got them well release the female when you have rested them from shipping about a week... that would be my advice.......

Riiight.... You need to condition them for at least a week before breeding, two would be better. Do you have a BBS hatchery or any live food cultures ready? If not, that will be something you can get ready in the meantime, because it's essential that you have live food for the fry.
Edit: Almost forgot... you don't need a filter on a fry tank if you do water changes of at least 75% every day. If you're not up to that challenge then go with a box or sponge filter, but you're still going to have to do water changes every day to maintain a healthy environment for growing fry.
