Hey everyone, I am wanting to start breeding and keeping bettas but am running into some issues, I want to do this as cheap as possible, also I do not have much space for a large system or anything, all i have is some shelf space under a larger tank and a bit of other cupboard space. The room I am planning in doing this in isnt heated for the fish but is a bedroom so stays around the optimum temperature at most times. I am not sure if i am able to have a betta in a smaller container(1 litre) unheated and just with some air, or a absolutely tiny sponge filter or something like that, and do daily or every 2nd day water changes??

Anyway I am just really looking at ideas and seeing what other people think, and I dont want a lot of bettas probably just around 4.

Thanks everyone.

If you don't have much space, you may struggle with the breeding side, especially for domestic Bettas. The males will need to be separated sooner than you think and then you'll have to grow them on in individual tanks. Personally, I'd not consider 1l containers ethical and wouldn't buy from anyone who bred this way.
