Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if any of you out there in the Los Angeles area know of any shops or people that breed bettas in the Los Angeles (preferebly South Bay) area. I was thinking about buying a more unique betta online rather than the ones you find in PETCO, but shipping costs more than the betta ($25)! I only want one. Any suggestions or links to resources where I can find out some information is appreciated!

two words: Betta Talk! I got 2 of my Bettas from Faith at BettaTalk (see www.bettatalk.com ), and they're GAWGEOUS. I lurve them! Faith allows people to pick up their Bettas as they please... her fish do run on the high end, but they are also completely healthy and come from wonderful pure lines. Many beautiful Bettas pairs (she usually sells pairs, you can get a single female or male for around $20) for $40-50 and theyre completely worth it! Not only will you get an awesome hard-to achieve HalfMoon tail type, which is almost exclusively what she sells, you'll get a very young Betta (4-5 months) that will be with you easily for 2-3 years.

You also DEFINITELY need to go to a Los Angeles Betta Society meeting! There's a link to LABS on the BettaTalk site. They'll have TONS of stunning fish up for auction for very low prices at the monthly meetings. If I were in LA, I'd be going to all of their meetings, there are dozens of amazing breeders in SoCal.

wow.. so much i don't know.. i am such a newb. :p so i guess there's not stores or shops around here selling bettas, eh?
