this is an older pic of one of our plakats who we (for the longest time) believed was a female. he was just soo cute and gentle, we were even thinking of eventually (when the ovipositer was visible) mating him with another male for a while, good thing we didn't we realized he was a male finally when a new female moved next door to him, the change was amazing, suddenly he was flaring and his blueish colouration turned almost black. it seems he had finally learned how to flare (he was quite young when we got him). the pic is distorted because he is in a rounded corner but it's a nice image of the "feminine" side of "sunio" nonetheless. since i borrowed the digital camera from work for the weekend you just might see a few more new pics this weekend of the "masculine" big boy all (almost) grown up although he still doesn't know what a bubble nest is

i'm quite proud of these two boys as they were bred by us they are plakats with some crown-tail genes in them. the first time i saw them flair and frill i was soo excited. the boys are growing into handsome young men
