Hi all, I have one male betta in my pond to keep away the mosquitos and now I just added 2 gouramis inside(think its 1 male 1 female). initially the male betta was like chasing them around.. but overnight i found the male gourami built a huge bubblenest with bubbles and plant leaves. now its hard to find any of these 3 fishes as they are hiding most the time.

Question is: anyone tried putting them together and will the gouramis be happy with the betta?

Thanks in advance!

How big is your pond? Is there enough room for everybody to live peacefully without ever really crossing paths?
It also really depends on the tempermant of each individual fish. I would assume the gourami bubble nesting is a sign that he is staking out territory, which could be signs of fighting in the near future. You'll really have to watch and see,or just take back the gouramis and assume that it's the best thing to do :p

Why not add a small school of mosquito fish?

I have a betta in my 75 gal tank with 4 gouramis....everyone is comfortable and happy....I really didn't expect this to be permanent! But as long as everyone is happy in there, I'm just going to leave things the way they are.

At feeding time, ALL of them are up at the top waiting for food....a betta mixed in with the gouramis...and no one is dominating anyone...I am so suprised!

If things don't work out, well, I'll pull him out, but he is just loving the swimming space...and loves tormenting my cats!

Eh my 'pond' is actually about 4ft long, last night i looked and the fish are all hiding behind the powerhead and the rocks, including the betta. Funny, they don't usually hide ... I am actually quite worried about the gouramis though i dun really like them..

Today thinking of pulling out my betta so that I can see him better and putting in some guppies to fill up the otherwise sparse pond...

Thanks for all suggestions!
