Hello everyone,

I feel like I've been away from TFF forever, but it's only been a few days. Well, I'm pleased to report that my little men survived the airplane trip to Miami, FL without a hitch. The airlines never questioned their presence, and people didn't even know I had fish. They were kept in a smaller cooler in bags. There was a tiny issure with water leaking from the top of the bags, but it wasn't in a large enough quantity to cause alarm. It does prompt me to pose this question, however. How do you seal your betta bags for travel? I have always used small rubber bands, but what other methods can be used?

The good thing is that I know that I can travel with fish without a problem. Have a great day!

I tie the bag, flip it upside down and then slip it into a second bag. Congrats on the smooth transition, I was wondering where you were!

You mean they didn't even ask to look into the cooler? Did they just consider it as a carry on item? What airline did you use?

I've seen them do that to some of my larger cichlids when I bought them.
It makes the bags tough! :flex:

Did you have to send them through the x-ray machine?

I had to send Furin through the x-ray machine when I toted him across country. I was worried about him, but he was a real trooper. It didn't seem to effect him. I think being in the pressurized cabin, with me, gave him a cushier ride than if he'd gone with USPS. I occasionally opened up his bag, "squeezed" the air out, and then opened the bag to suck in fresh air.

That plane was so crowded, I think he had a cushier ride than even I had.

For him, I kept him in the plastic bag the pet store put him in, and then placed that bag inside a little plastic 'beetle box' I bought at a 100 yen store (beetles are the pet of the hour, in Japan).

I just carried Allie in a ziploc turned upside down in another ziploc in my purse. He was going through the X-ray and those nice men saved him so they could oogle how cute he was! He went with me from Steamboat to Denver, then Denver to Sacramento and then the drive home for 1 hour. What a trooper!

Yes, the 7 little men went through the X-Ray machine. They were fine. I flew American Airlines. I will think about double-bagging next time, but I was rushing to get out of the house that day, and Siegmund was being a pain in the rear. It took me 10 minutes to net him. Then he tried to jump out of the net.

I posted something in Chit Chat about what my mom got me, but I had to dig through three pages of posts to find it today and nobody had answered.

I got a 36g corner aquarium. :) Not as big as I expected, but my sister is really big on decor, so the tank had to fit her aesthetics. It'll be a challenge to light. They also didn't sell my old 20g, so I can tinker with that one too. The 20g will probably house my imbellis with my pygmy corydoras, and the 36g will house my Harlequins, Bridgets, and gouramis, along with a botia species I've been researching.
