Ok this morning i seen a large part of my betas tail that was coming off, it was almost compleatly off but this white stuff was holdong it on, ive got babies in the tank and i dotn want anything to happen to them but i want the temp of water he goes into to be 78 80 but dont have another tank, Is it ick or is he going to die?

sounds like fin rot

It can be treated with clean water, a pinch of salt and/or melafix,don't worry,he's not dying. I believe there are otc drugs that can treat it too.

You could treat him seperately from the other fish by putting him in a small hospital tank

Just realized you said you have no other tank. How about a huge empty jar? Just fill it half way with tank water and the other half with clean. You could also use a large bowl

If not, maybe you should use a cup. I've seen them have bettas in the LFS that way. The betta may not like it, but if you don't have a big jar, or a bowl, it's your only option...
