i'm not a fan of sticking rocks together.
After having to dismantle my rockwork a few times in recent weeks to rescue clumsy snails i a glad that i didn't go down this route.
when piecing together rocks i make the structure as stable as possible.
Some rocks naturally fit together and other rocks can be used to "lock" some joints.
Every time a rock is placed a few taps around the rock will test the stability.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your input! i wanted to stack mine high and didnt want it falling over .... think its going take alot of playing about

haha i was thinking that could be bad!! may have to give this ago tomorow!!! hope fully start to get a nice looking tank!Yeah, I didn't think that using a drill underwater was a good idea if I wanted to live
Some bits were tougher than others to drill through though, and make sure you use a masonry bit otherwise the rock can crumble/split.
i will start it in the morning so i go all day lolJust one piece of advice, plan how long you think it will take you and then double it!!

Amen to that!
As for the rock, you UK guys have so many names for rock types I rarely keep them straight
Long story short, if the rock is porous and NOT lava rock, use it. If it's not porous and very heavy, then dont...

Ocean rock is white, with round holes and very heavy fort it's size. Most people use it for malawi cichlid tanks over here.
