Okay, I am going to totally spoil the VT rescues I have now, so I need pointers from you all. I like the 2.5 mini blows...mostly the way they look, and I hear good things about them. I was wondering what you guys all think is the best set up for Bettas...types of plants and all. And what price did you get everything at? I want to see if I can find things for a good deal. What are the best filters? Any websites you guys order from that may be helpful...(Still looking for green crowntails :alien: Will you guys keep an eye out for me, those of you that shop online...Or Betta Momma in WI?...thanks!)

Heh heh.
If you want a really good deal....
At PetWorld (I hate that place now, but...) they have 10G tanks with hood and light kits for 17$. i could not believe it when I saw them! You then of course need to get a filter, but their filters are 12$. Heaters are about in that price range - maybe a tad bit more.

Anyhow - I picked up 2 dividers - so I can have 2 bettas in there with some room between then for the filter to be...
so it looks like this:

plus gravel, plants, arches - whatever you want to invest in to set them up.
I now have Harvey and Archie in there, they seem to be doing very well and really like their new homes.

I think from this point on, unless there is a reason for any bettas I might get/have, I will be putting them together into divided tanks. Share the resources and then you can have things filtered and that means less water changes.

I've been watching out for that green boy for you but haven't seen him yet.

I have two 2.5 mini bows, but I paid $25 for one--at walmart-- (comes with filter, light, hood) and $40 for another one--at my lfs-- (came with same stuff) except this one had a divider (don't ask why a thin piece of plastic divider costs $15 extra...)
I don't use the filters though, although they have settings on them to go stronger or weaker current, I still don't think in that small of a tank that the bettas really need one. I did buy, however, a small sponge filter from petsmart for $3 (it plugs into your air pump--I like this better because I have a valve on my air pump so I can precisely choose how much current I want.)
Personally, I love the minibows but I think Bettamomma's idea with the ten gallon is genious...guess it is up to you how much available space you have for a tank.

You know - we do have a 2.5 minibow at our house, too and that's where Jack lives.
He builds bubblenests like they're going out of style and they're really nice for water changes too. :)

But I also do really like my 10G tank - for lack of having to do water changes!

I have two 2.5 Mini Bows (pictured below)... My two boys love them....

Then I also have two 1 gallon Aquaviews... And I have to say I think these tanks are my favorite for maintence and just overall. Here's a picture of one of them, but I now have 2 next to eachother. :)

Then I have a 3 gallon Hex tank, which is OK... Not my favorite... But here's a picture:
