Best Plant To Make A Carpet With?

I'm planning a 29 gallon dwarf puffer tank, I'd like it to have a plant carpet of some type. What's a fast growing plant that would make a good carpet and also doesn't need co2? The tank will have medium-high lighting.

i like to use java moss. I have got 5 different size carpets on the go at the moment. They are only 2 weeks old but they are growing nicely all ready. in my opinion java moss is an excelant carpet plant.
