My bettas have been eating high guality flake food and dehydrated blood shrimp. Well, I finally got around to buying some frozen food for them... And by the time I got there, I couldn't remember what I intended to get! So, what frozen foods are good for bettas, do they like best, should be avoided.... Ya know.

I remember they had bloodworms, white mosquito larvea, squid, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, "carnivore mix" which I'm not sure what it is, beef heart... They might have had some others too. Anything I should stick to/avoid? I bought the bloodworms, because they seemed to be common on the forums ^_^ I might go buy another pack, just for variety.

I've bought frozen brine shrimp for all of my fish, but my original bettas wouldn't eat it, but the 4 from wuv loved it as well as my new betta from Thailand. I'm soon buying some live blood worms for them. To see if they like that.

My bettas like the frozen bloodworms. George spit the first one out, but now he eats them just like the others do.

hikari makes good quality frozen food. Actually, hikari makes good, everything. It is a good brand that sterilizes the food well so you don't make your fish sick.

I feed all my fish a variety of bloodworms, and brine shrimp, with some biogold pellets... :) they love it all

I feed my betta HBH Betta Bites. It's the only thing he'll eat. I've given him shrimp, bloodworms, everything, and he turns his nose up to it all. I've even tried a different brand of pellets (Hikari) and he hated them too. Wouldn't touch them at all.
I hate that he doesnt have a varied diet, but if it isn't a HBH Betta Bite, he will not go near it.

blood worms iv heard are the best form them, but not all bettas like them, i have a few who wont touch em so i end up buying them frozen adult brine shrimp which they all seem to enjoy.

btw, purhaps you could switch their dry food with some "betta" pellets, flakes and freeze dryed foods are hard on their digestion. i would recommend "betta bites" or "hikari" brand.

Heads up on bloodworms, they cause bloat like nobody's business. But they're good for them, natural diet and whatnot.

Any food rich in protein can cause bloat if you feed it too often and don't provide enough roughage to help "move things along". I've never had a case of bloat when feeding my fish frozen bloodworms 2-3 times a week and Hikari pellets the days they don't get BW, but recently I've started adding frozen peas to their diet as well :)

The bloodworms and brine shrimp are good choices (though most of my adults won't eat the frozen brine for some reason... my juvies have gotten big enough to enjoy it, though). I've never tried the white mosquito larvae, but they'd probably like that as well. The more variety you provide, the better!

I just fed my bettas a frozen blodworm cube mixed in with a frozen mosquito larvae cube. I mixed the two together and then fed them all a little bit each...they loved the mix and it worked really well. One cube is never enough for all of them (I also shared them around in my community tank and my two isolation tanks that currently have fish in) They loved it!
My advice...would be try a variety if they don't like it then there's not much you can do!! However, if they do write it down so you'll remember in the future! That's what I've done in the past anyway. Good luck!!
