I have a Juwel vision 260 with the internal Juwel Standard H. I dont like it. Its big and clumpy.
I want to run 2 fluval 404s, one as a standard external, the other solely as an undergravel. Any suggestions or comments. I realise this is overfiltered but the only problem i see is the water circulation, but i can disperse that, not too worried. Many thanks

I would go with two externals for the Vision 260 (although two 404s could be overkill), but why bother with undergravel filtration ? The big externals are the rolls royce of filtration and undergravel is normally used because it's a budget option.

The two externals are more than capable of providing all the mechanical and biological filtration you need, with standard intake and spray bars.

It seems like one benefit of the undergravel with fluval hooked up would be that you wouldn't have to vacuum the gravel very often. The filter would constantly be sucking out any crud that settled to the bottom. I don't own a cannister filter but from what I hear the Eheim 2028 is a great filter. If you have a 260 gallon tank than 2 would be neccessary but you would be pleased. Sounds like a cool setup.

Regular water maintenance is necessary even with undergravel filters.

Undergravel filters are effective, but can clog over time and to some extent can restrict plant growth, drawing nutrients away from the roots and cooling the roots.
