best filter for discus and other cichlid tank

what would be the most efficient filter to get for a 55 gal 48x14x20 planted tank with discus and other small cichlids?

i heard that undergravel filters are a waste of time and they dont work

Discus require very clean water. You should probably get (at least) a canister filter. You can check Eheim or Filstar Rena XP series. I use the Rena XP3 for my 55 gallon.

What other cichlids do you plan on keeping with the discus? I'd check into compatibility, if you haven't already, because they don't all get along.
