I have a juwel rekord 120 which is about 30USG. As I've got more stock I notice my juwel internal filter isn't keeping the water as clear as I'd like so I'd like to get an external filter so I can take the internal out.
The tank is in my room so it need to be pretty quiet if not silent and I'd like my water to be crystal clear!
I'm no the richest so budget is low but name me any and the best and then I can see what I can stretch too

Also if I get the external and run it along side the internal for a few weeks could I take the internal out without upsetting the bacteria balance?

thanks Clare x

Most external filter are actually very quite. You could either run botth at the same time or simply add the old filter media into the external filter

I don't think a Eheim Classic 2213 will suffice to be honest. I ran one on my 19 US gallon (72 litres) - so not far off half the size of yours.

I'd suggest a minimum of an Eheim 2215 :good: You can pick them up second hand (often with all media) for something around £20 + postage on eBay. Total bargain.

Yes, hook the new filter up for two weeks and then just remove the Juwel Internal. If you need to know how : see this thread :)

Thanks bloo i pinned that topic so I can come back to it when i remove the internal
Thanks all for your advice looks like I'm off to get me another filter. Hope I can pick up a bargain one those models on ebay are going for cheapest around £70

EDIT: think I'm going to go for the eheim 2217. Will I have to drill anything in my tank?
