im fed up of my crappy juwel filter and want to get the bees knees of an external filter. Something with ease of use too

I have seen some with built in thermo etc

What are the best externals out there for this kinda size tank, would prefer something a little over the top for the tank for the extra assurance.

So what are your opinions people?

Thanks

Dan

70Litre, TetraTec EX700, Gives you 10 Times turnover, Nice little filters, 3 year guranteee :D

Or a Eheim, but I dont know much about Eheim's :D

I don't like the Eheim filters, for reasons I won't go into to avoid arguments, though many on here consider them the best available. I'll agree with Ace on the Tetratec being very good. Actualy I've ordered a second due to how impressed I was by the first. Thats a first for me, I've never bought the same filter twice :hyper:
I think the EX700 may be overkill for a 70l though, if you have fish that don't like flow. The EX600 may be better placed if you fish don't like flow  That said, the 700 has more media, so will need less cleaning. Your call here :good: You can always turn the flow down
I bought both mine from 1st 4 aquatics They were the cheapest for the EX1200 model, and they are probibly cheapest for the others too. Their delivery is very quick and included in the price. I ordered the last one at 9pm on Friday and it arrived arround 7:30am on Monday :good:
The EX600 costs £49.99, the EX700 £59.99, including delivery and media and all the accessories

All the best

Thats beets my price on the EX700, at £49.99. It's the EX600 at £45. :good: I'd highly recomend zooplus are supposed to be a great supplier too, though I've never used them. The Tetratecs realy are good, and at that price and a three year warrently, you can't go wrong  They are more expencive on the EX1200 though...

All the best

WOW! extremely great replies!!!!

ok, so what about for a 50litre aquarium? tetratec do a suitable one for this size????

EX600 for that one. Tetratec recon only from 60l on this model, but they have adjustable outlets, so if flow is too heigh you can just tweak it down

What about the ''best'' heaters to go with this filter then for my 50l, internal and external (latter being the preferred)

Preferabbly a digital heater

Look into 'in-line' heaters :) that way ull keep as much equipment out of the tank as possible. I believe rena do one?

Yeah thats what im looking to do, keep as much out as possible. 1 for more tank space, and 2 for easier maintenance

I don't use the exturnal heater ATM, but I will hopefully soon :good: Hydor are supposed to be good, though they start from 200W which would be overkill for a 50l. Eheim I belive also make in-line heaters, but I don't realy know what they are like, other than expencive probibly :shifty:

You get 10% off your first order at zooplus too, so the EX700 is £45 :good:

anyone? could i use an ex700 in my 60 litre?

as said above you can turn the flow down on them so should be fine, that is assuming you have no fish which are particularly sensitive to strong currents
