Guys

I am thinking I might put in a longer and brighter light as mine is fairly small compared to my tank, thus the ends are dark.

I am looking to get a light around a metre long which will really show off my white rocks and white sand, something that will bring the colours out on the fish.

What is my best option? I see there are hundreds of choices, is there a simple answer for something bright bringing out the colours?

Any help would be great!!

Thanks
Rob

well first off what kinda light are you currently using as most hoods will only run a specific type and wattage of light which all come in one standard size...

Just a very bright white light, my tank doesnt have a lid on it., just a glass panel which the light sits on.

OK, I have had a rethink, I have put a purple looking bulb in from my smaller unused tank.

I now have a white end and a pink end to my tank, can anyone please verify that this wont cause any issues? tank looks great in two colours!

The color spectrum that pleases you is the "ideal" one for you. If you were running a planted tank, there are advantages to a daylight spectrum for plant growth but otherwise the lighting is really a personal preference item. The fish won't care as long as they can get enough to find their food and light that pleases you often means that you will spend more effort keeping the tank clean and neat looking. That means more care and, in the end, healthier fish.
