Best Canister Filter For A 40 Gal Arfican Cichlid Tank

I'm looking for a reasonably priced canister filter that can handle a fully stocked 40 gal African Cichlid tank. Don't want to spend loads of money on this accessory. Anyone have good advice or experience with these.

As you will not likely be getting into the planting thing using HOB's will work for you. Part of the Chiclid manifesto is uprooting anything and everything in sight. The Aquaclear HOB's are exceptional. I would have a look at putting two on the tank. Redundancy is real good insurance and also the filter cleaning process will not likely cause any spikes if you do them significantly apart. This may also be the most economical way to go. For Hob's the "rule of thumb" is 10x tank volume water throughput per hour by the filter(s). Cleanliness and over filtering are both next to Godliness!
