Hi,
I am going to start a 5-12 gallon tank. I would like to know the most recommended brands and if glass or acrylic makes any difference aside from aesthetic/convenience?
Also, I have read that a filter with a "bio wheel" is a must...is this something that I can add to any filter or is it only included with a brand such as Eclipse?
My local fish stores have several varieties that seem interesting to me: the Eclipse (to be found online much cheaper), the Pet-co All-Glass Mini-Bow 5 gallon tank, Aqua-Tech 10 gallon glass (although nicely rounded), and I also found the stunning desktop dayglow 10 gallon (http/www.fishtankstore.com/aquariums/desktop.php) at a fishstore Without the hood for 70$ (is this too much for just the tank?!). Which would be the best bet and are there any others that are more recommended?
I love puffers and want to get a few non-agressive little ones. I have read that if you get two or three they will squabble amongst themselves and are therefore more likely to leave other fish alone: is this true? Also, is a 10 gallon going to be adequate for three little ones? Could I get away with only one puffer...but in such a case would it be more likely it would attack other fish in the tank?
What are the best fish to keep with a little puffer (I suppose the typical spotted green one in most fish stores)--I love neon tetra, and was told it is risky to keep them with puffers. If I get them large enough would they be safe? Could I get an African Dwarf Frog if I have puffers...or will the puffer attack the frog?
If the puffer is too limiting on the rest of my tank I'd rather not get it. But I need to figure out if ti will be first. Any help anyone can give me in terms of tank advice, or puffer advice, that would be phenomenal.
Thanks!
Saskia
