So, I've been doing a lot of research for my upcoming 10 gallon nano tank. I have a pretty good idea of what my system will consist of, how to go about setting everything up, and how to cycle, etc. It's going to be a long time before the tank is set up, and even longer until I actually put corals in, but I'm trying to get an idea of what I like and what will or will not work! So, please bare with me... I am a coral newb.

I've been parusing tank photos at a number of forums and I've collected pictures of things I'd like to keep if I can. With my lighting and circulation as per This Thread, what are the following and will I be able to house them?

DISCLAIMER: absolutely NONE of these pictures are mine, though I wish they were... but they are all pics from nano tanks.

In this one, what's the tan thing with pink edges on the right? And what's the yellow stuff behind the clowns?

In this one, what are the reddish ones on the top left?

Next, what's the pink and greenish one on the bottom left? A coral or an anenome?

The yellow coral right in the middle of this pic is ricordea, right?

On the left, red mushrooms? On the right, zoos? and on the top, that pinkish-greenish anenome thing from the other pic...

These are all zoos, right? Just different colors? They're lovely!

And finally... another anenome-like thing on the left, with some really cool star-shaped things on the right, what are they? And above, the red and green thing, is that a candy cane coral?

I'd also like a sun coral (so gorgeous!!) and some pulsing xenia (I know most ppl consider it a weed... but it's fascinating!)

Thanks for taking the time to read through! If you have any input, it would be greatly appreciated!

The things you keep referring to as anemone looking thins are LPS corals, one looks to be a hammer and the other a frogspawn. They need good water quality, but aren't too light demanding. Montipora is in the first pic with the purple edges and the second pic. Other than that you were pretty well on for your IDs as far as the zoanthids and the ricordeas. In the last pick you have mushrooms (not candy cane coral) star polyps and frogspawn.

Whew...I'll do my best here:

1) SPS, ? Montipora sp? capricornis? or turbinaria

2) yellow stuff..tough to say...button polpys?

3) SPS, again, montipora? or turbinaria

4) small pic...frogspawn

5) ricordea florida

6) euphyllia ancora, anchor coral, an LPS

7) zoanthids

8) frogspawn on left, green star polyps on right, a type of mushroom (actinodiscus)

Looks like a Hammer coral to me.

Yep, Correct.

Left is Mushrooms, Right are Zoa's. In the middle is a Hammer coral.

The large coral on the left is a Frog Spawn, Star Polyps are the bottum right, and above them, Shrooms.

Looks like SH beat me too this though. :p
:p

If you haven't done so already, check out Eric Borneman's book on Aquarium Corals. Well worth owning. SH
