Hiya all.
Background
I have had a new tank set up for 6 months now and started with 4 green tiger barbs...lovely fiesty things, but after approx 1/2 months they started flicking themselves offa rocks and plant leaves. No other signs of things going on. I thought i may be whitespot but i have seen none. Since then ive introduced 6 ruby nosed tetras approx 3 months ago and 4 rainbowfish about 2 weeks ago. Only in the last week have one tetra and one rainbowfish been flicking offa stuff again.
I cannot seen inflamed gills, or slimey coats, or no rapid (breathing?)
So I have 6 flicking fish that look healthy other than their circus antics !

Any suggestions would be grateful

Cheers

Flicking is a sure sign of ich. Even if they are invisible to the naked eye they will be there. The infestation will be in the Tomont stage where it needs to infect fish.
Once a fish is fully infected then you can just see the salt grains effect.
Ich can be caught by lots of ways. See pinned item about Ich.
Putting in meds will only work when it is in the third stage.

What size tank have you got? After 6 months the tank has most probably cycled but you need to test the water for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

Gill flukes is a parasite that lives in the gills and can be eradicated by correct medication. By your location, I see you're in the UK. Interpet do a good range of medications and they have one for flukes. Use it as directed and it should cure the problem.
