I think the fish will prefer the second one, more to do! Plus the rock will become less white with time, and therefore not stand out as much!

yeah i think after looks best,But the rocks need time to go out of that white colour,Maybe put java moss round the bottom? and let algea etc grow on the rocs abit to give it more of a natural look. :good:

if you let the rock get abit of algea etc on it it will look more natural and won't stand out.I tihkn i prefer the bottom picture :good:

I prefer the first one, they are both nice though :good:

The rocks will be green/black in no time and soon you will be cursing the algea that is making your clean rocks look dirty

Personally i dont like either, they look too "placed" and artificial, especially with the center pieces placed dead center of the tank. Sorry.

A few tips for a more natural looking tank

Always place rocks and wood directly onto the base of the tank and add the substrate around them, not only does it look better but it give more stability to heavy pieces that could topple and damage the tank/fish and means less debrie can get trapped under the decore and spoil water quality.

When setting out the aquascape imagine the tank divided into 5 equal sections along its length. Start your design with the center piece in the second section in from the right hand side of the tank and then work outwards from there, for most people the line of sight automatically skews off slightly to this side so it makes the view more comfortable and natural feeling.

If you are adding plants add them last and try to place them as they would appear in nature growing out from under rocks/wood etc where the shelter the object has given would have allowed the young plant to take root and grow, you rarely see plants in open spaces in the wild.

thanks for all your comments i have decided to keep it as it is it is growing on me and i think its better for the fisses

thanks for the advise i have put the middle rocks to the right a bit, put some leaves coming of of a few of the holes rather than just behind, and dug the rocks into the sand. looks loads better :good:

also sprinckled sum sand on the rocks dulls them down a bit.

thanks again!

The advice about using the golden section is sound...

I would also do more to hide your airline / filters / algae magnet... They detract from how nice your tank looks and can easily be hidden.

before if you ask me what made you put that nasty white stuff in

as far as i know you can still get real rock and plants

yeah i'd go with before  btw doesnt that type of rock does something to the water or something?

I liked the first tank. Its looking gr8. I guess its more safe for the fish.
