I didn't like the layout of my 30 gallon so I went out and bought 3 new large plants and re-arranged everything. They are plastic but high quality plastic lol I've tried real plants but they just die...I don't have enough watts in my lighting so for now...I have to settle for plastic and silk plants.
Definitely the after photo is an improvement. I liked the before photo alot, the shadows and plant arrangements but changing the sand colour to pick up the colour of the new plants, that really livens everything up. It looks sunnier, brighter and a different tank altogether. The renovation/decorating shows are sooo popular on tv right now but I bet your fish just love 'While You Were Out' fishy style too! And what a great assortment of silk and plastic plants...we sure can't find that around here, looks truly beautiful. Power to ya, and power to the fishies. B)

I was so excited about the plants I totally forgot to mention that the lighting is different. In the second picture you can see the lighting is a lot nicer and brighter and that's because I replaced the manufacturers lights with power-glo lights. One of the power-glo lights is especially made to bring out the colors in plants and fish
Snowyzmom - I also love the silk plants...to me sometimes I actually prefer the silk over real because they look very realistic as well as you don't have to take care of them and you don't get a lot of plant matter all over the tank/filter etc. That would be so awesome to have a fish tank make-over show....mind you...not sure how many people would tune in to watch it but I know I would lol

SnowyzMom - I didn't change the sand I've been sitting here thinking...why does she think I changed the sand and then I was talking with my Mom and sent her the pics and she was like oh did you change the sand to mauve cause it looks so nice? and then I compared the before and after and was like oh yeah the sand does look a lot different and even in person it looks pinker than my other tanks and I was trying to figure out why...well then I remembered it's the new lights ..they give off a softer color which brings out the colors in the plants and fish and well it did it to the sand as well
